Limited health opportunities are no reason to abandon an active and diverse life. And the South Urals with disabilities successfully prove this. Sports help many: skates, gymnastics, judo, powerlifting and even climbing. Today, December 3, on the International Day of the Disabled, we talk about those who were able to achieve recognition not only in Russia, but also abroad. But perhaps the main victory of these guys is a victory over themselves.

Powerlifting

Sport gave the power of spirit, new goals in life and motivation to the South Urals Sergey Shvets. Five years ago, a resident of Korkino lost his leg due to a knife wound.

– A month lay in the hospital. When I arrived home, I did not go outside for two months at all. There was depression, the moods are decadent: both the dishes fought and cursed with his parents, ”the young man recalls.

Before the tragedy, Sergei went in for sports, worked with Libra, but did not go to the competition. In the society of the disabled, he was offered to take part in the competitions on powerlifting, where without preparation our hero took first place in the region. Now the young man poses new tasks.

– I have a lot of regional medals, but I want more. The bench press enters the Paralympic sport, and there is something to strive for, ”he says.

Powerlifting also helped the young Chelyabinets Arthur Kinzhabaev, who was diagnosed with “children's cerebral paralysis” at birth. Until five years, he could not walk at all, and when he was sitting, support was required.

The extraordinary power of will and sport allowed the young man not only to stand on his feet, but also to start engaged in along with healthy athletes.

“One of the guys then laughed at me, but it was then that I wanted more-to win with healthy guys,” says Arthur.

Today, the 32-year-old Chelyabinets is the winner of the regional competitions in powerlifting or the power three-shirt. Lying in a touch, the athlete squeezes 125 kilograms, with a standing traction – 180. In the future, he intends to pass the standards and get the title of master of sports among healthy athletes.

Skates

Fedor Merkulv, who lost his leg three years ago while working on the railway, stood on skates. But before I tried myself in several sports at once.

– Questions why this happened, and why I did this, I did not ask myself then. In general, I am a rationally thinking person, so I did not spend time on this – the fact itself is already there, and there is no getting away from it. Then I started looking for information on the Internet, there was no time to despair – I had to go through rehabilitation, ”he says.
